-
At your initial consultation, a Relationships Plymouth counsellor will meet with you for around an hour. During this session, we’ll talk through how we might be able to help you. If appropriate, your counsellor will recommend one of our counselling services tailored to your needs.
If we feel we’re not the best fit to support you, we’ll signpost you to someone who is.
-
Counselling offers a space where you can step back from a situation and see it with fresh perspective. You'll explore difficult or complex issues in a safe, confidential environment, with support to help you move forward.
-
As a charity, we aim to make our counselling services affordable. We do ask for client contributions to help cover running costs, but we don’t make a profit. Your contribution goes directly toward supporting the service.
-
Our goal is to offer low-cost counselling. Most people attend for 6–8 sessions, though this varies from person to person or couple to couple. There’s no tie-in or commitment to a minimum number of sessions — some people only need one.
Booking an Initial Consultation will help you get a better sense of how many sessions you might need and what the total cost is likely to be.
-
Yes. Your sessions are completely confidential and stay between you and your counsellor. We will never share your information unless we believe someone’s safety is at serious risk.
-
We always welcome feedback and are committed to improving our services. If you have a complaint, please follow our complaints procedure and contact our Centre Manager as soon as possible.

Counselling with Relationships Plymouth is designed to help you and your partner understand the challenges in your relationship and work toward meaningful change. Whether you're hoping to strengthen your connection or explore separation, counselling offers a safe space to talk things through. Many people find they gain confidence, improve their communication and decision-making skills, and feel more in control of their lives. If you're separating, counselling can also help reduce conflict and support your children and family by creating a calmer, more respectful home environment.
-
If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give us at least 48 hours’ notice. If not, the session fee will still apply.

Relationships Plymouth is focused on helping people improve their relationships and make meaningful changes in their lives. Whether you're facing challenges with a partner, family member, or within yourself, we’re here to help.
-
Absolutely. Many clients come to counselling on their own, whether they've recently gone through a separation, are single, or simply want to understand their relationships better. If you’re attending family or relationship counselling but want a one-on-one session, that’s fine too.
-
Children are welcome to attend family sessions. However, for relationship counselling between partners, children cannot be present — you'll need to arrange childcare so that you and your partner can focus fully on the session.
